Biography of Dr.phil.h.c. Erich Lejeune
Personal
Dr.phil.h.c. Erich Lejeune was born on 15th June 1944 and grew up in Dorfen, Bavaria, Germany. Today he is living together with his swiss wife Irène in Munich.

Career
Following his vocational training as a wholesaler
in a Munich electrical goods business, he entered
business in 1961 taking on leadership
roles in the sales departments of 2 companies in
the electrical industry |

In 1976 Erich J. Lejeune founded
ce CONSUMER ELECTRONIC AG. He had realised early on the
economic and strategic potential of microchips and was
one of the pioneers of e-commerce. As one of the first
German companies in the microchip market, ce CONSUMER
ELECTRONIC AG was already opening branches in Tokyo in
1979 and Silicon Valley, USA in 1981.
In 1999, a year after the company’s
entry into the “new market” of the German
stock exchange, Dr.phil.h.c. Erich Lejeune founded the world’s
first virtual stock exchange for chips, with 500 companies
participating worldwide. With this, he revolutionised
the semiconductor market. Under Lejeune’s leadership,
the stock market value of the company rose for a time
to over 3 billion Deutschmarks.

Dr.phil.h.c. Erich Lejeune as motivation trainer
and TV presenter
Through his success, the visionary Lejeune embodies the
rags-to-riches dream.
He shares the principles and strategies of this success
in numerous publications, motivational talks and seminars.
1998 Launch of the Bundesverbandes Mittelständische
Wirtschaft (BVMW) (National Federation of Medium-Sized
Industries) campaign „Aufbruch Deutschland –
Jammern gilt nicht!“ (“Germany on the move
– complaining does not count!”) with Dr.phil.h.c. Erich Lejeune as the main spokesperson.
2003 Founding of „Lejeune - Academy
for Motivation, Communication & Success“
In the winter semester of 2005 Dr.phil.h.c. Erich Lejeune was entrusted with a series of lectures at the
Technical University of Munich on the theme of „Motivation
for Excellence“.
Since 1999 he has been a presenter on
Munich TV, tv.Berlin and on U1 in Switzerland with his
weekly Saturday programme „Lejeune“. In the
programme he shows, by means of an in-depth conversation
with a public figure, the private side of politicians,
artists, business people and top sportsmen and women.
2004 Initiator and presenter of the series „Motivation Germany“on Munich TV.
Since 2007 also a presenter on Munich
TV’s new series „Brennpunkt Motivation“(„Motivation
in Focus“).
2007 Change of name: The "Lejeune Academy for Communication, Motivation & Success" is now called "Lejeune Academy for Philosophy & Motivation"
2008 Cooperation with the Munich School of Philosophy
Teaching assignment with the Munich School of Philosophy since winter semester 2008

Social Involvement
1998 Founding of the Lejeune foundation
for tooth-care and paradontal therapy.
2001 appointment as honorary consul for Ireland
in Bavaria and Baden-Württemberg by the Irish foreign
minister Brian Cowen.
2003 Founding of the „Herz für Herz
– Stiftung für Leben! (“Heart for Heart
– foundation for life!”) for which Dr.phil.h.c. Erich Lejeune
acts as the chairman of the board of trustees. This foundation
makes heart surgery and related rehabilitation, as well
as other treatment and diagnostic procedures available
to needy patients, especially children, in Germany and
abroad.

Awards
1997 Appointment as senator h.c. in the
Bundesverband Mittelständische Wirtschaft (National
Federation of Medium-Sized Industries) and as spokesperson
of their Economic Senate
1998 European Crystal Globe Prize for Business
1999 Voted as German Entrepreneur of the Year
by Manager Magazine, Schitag Ernst and Young and the SAP
AG
2000 European tax-payers prize of the Federation
of Taxpayers, Germany
2001 donation of 750 000 ce shares to the city
of Munich for the benefit of state kindergartens and old
people’s homes.
2002 The Order of Merit of the Federal Republic
of Germany
2006 Wittelsbacher golden badge of honour for
his commitment to and support of the modern pentathlon.
2007 on 17th March with certification by the
Federal President Prof. Horst Köhler, decorated with
the Order of Merit, first class awarded by Minister President
Dr. Edmund Stoiber.
His successful radio-column "Motivation Deutschland - Die Lejeune Kolumne" has been on air till August 2009 on the radio station 'Klassik Radio'

2010 appointment as honorary consul general for Ireland in Bavaria and Thuringia by the Irish foreign minister Micheál Martin
